  • "It's like they just don't trust us": Balancing trust and control in the provision of disability employment services (2011) Social Action Research Centre.  This is the final report of an ARC Linkage Project with Jobs Australia, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and ACE about Australia's disability employment service. It recommends changes to improve flexibility and decrease red tape.
  • Have you taken on the care of someone else's child? (2011) This resource, provided by the Australian Government, provides a one-stop shop for foster carers, grandparent carers and informal carers to find information about the financial supports, services and non-financial supports available to them and/or the children in their care.
  • Post-diagnosis support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, their families and carers: FaHCSIA Occasional Paper No. 35. This paper consists of two reports on post-diagnosis support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The first report focuses on younger children, and the second on older children. The reports are based on literature reviews addressing the experiences of diagnosis, treatment and support for families with children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Disabilities in Australia: Multiple Disabilities and need for assistance - The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (2009). This report examines the frequency of multiple disabilities and their impact on the care needs of Australians.
  • Impact Of Home Based Long Term Care On Informal Carers, Ranmuthugala et al, National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (2009). This report highlights the price that family members pay for taking on long term care responsibilities at home.
  • ‘Shut Out’ - Report on the experience of people with disabilities and their families in Australia, National People with Disabilities and carer council (2009). This report underlines the need for a national disability insurance scheme that entitles people with severe disability to support services, whatever the cause of their disability.
  • The nature and impact of caring for family members with a disability in Australia (2009), Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA). This paper examines the impacts on primary carers providing care to a person because of old age or disability. It examines the effects of caring on family and social relationships; documents the social, emotional, physical and financial impact on families of those caring for a person with disability; and examines the effect of caring on labour force status.
  • The geography of disability and economic disadvantage in Australian capital cities (2009), Dr Louise O'Rance - Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. There is a strong correlation between socioeconomic status and severe disability in capital cities, according this report. But which causes what is unclear - whether disability contributes to economic disadvantage, or whether the reverse applies. The report focused on people aged under 65, thereby excluding much of the disability related to ageing. Dr O'Rance reports that the figures clearly showed that disability among people aged under 65 was more common in communities where residents had fewer economic resources. 
  • Family Resilience where families have a child (0-8years) with a disability, Muir et al / Social Policy Research Centre. The Disability Policy and Research Working Group commissioned this study as part of the Commonwealth-State/Territory Disability Agreement. The results document risk and protective factors for family resilience.
  • Influencing workplace change: The New Zealand experience (2008), Heather McDonald, Sarah Young and Dairne Grant, New Zealand Government. The paper from the AIFS Conference 2008 provides a snapshot of initiatives implemented by the New Zealand Government to make workplaces attractive, innovative and productive, particularly in relation to families and people with caring responsibilities.   • Beyond Blue Guide for Carers (2009). Based on the personal stories of carers, this guide offers tips about caring for others and for the carer.
