- The geography of disability and economic disadvantage in Australian capital cities (2009), Dr Louise O'Rance - Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. There is a strong correlation between socioeconomic status and severe disability in capital cities, according this report. But which causes what is unclear - whether disability contributes to economic disadvantage, or whether the reverse applies. The report focused on people aged under 65, thereby excluding much of the disability related to ageing. Dr O'Rance reports that the figures clearly showed that disability among people aged under 65 was more common in communities where residents had fewer economic resources.
- Family Resilience where families have a child (0-8years) with a disability, Muir et al / Social Policy Research Centre. The results document risk and protective factors for family resilience and can be accessed via the Social Policy Research Centre website.
